Privacy Policy

LocalShopWala is a digital software platform for local shopkeepers. It helps shops manage stock, billing, sales counter, online shop page, customers, and related day-to-day work. Customers can also find nearby shops and place orders through our shop pages.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we use it, how long we keep it, and how you can ask us to correct or delete it, in line with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (as applicable).

By creating an account or using LocalShopWala, you confirm that you have read this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

Important: LocalShopWala is not a marketplace. We provide software tools only. Each shop owner remains responsible for their products, prices, taxes, delivery, refunds, and customer disputes.

• Shop owners who register and run their shop on LocalShopWala
• Staff members invited by a shop owner to use the shop account
• Customers who browse a shop’s online page or place an order
• Visitors who open our website or apps

We collect only what is needed to run the service, keep accounts safe, and meet the law. This may include:

• To create and secure your account, including login codes sent to your phone
• To run stock, billing, sales counter, reports, and your online shop page
• To process LocalShopWala subscription fees through our payment partner
• To send important messages such as login codes, order updates, and billing notices
• To answer support requests (including support@localshopwala.com)
• To help shop owners with simple business reports and optional writing suggestions for product text
• To prevent fraud, misuse, and security problems
• To follow Indian law, including tax and accounting record requirements
• To send offers only where the law allows and you have not opted out

We follow Indian law, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (as applicable).

• Consent — when you choose optional features (for example location or marketing)
• Contract — to provide the service you signed up for
• Legal duty — tax, books of account, and lawful government requests
• Legitimate need — security, fraud prevention, and improving the service without overriding your rights
• Shop-owned customer records — when a shop owner stores customer details for their own sales, that shop owner is mainly responsible for telling customers and collecting any consent needed

We use small files and similar tools on your device so you can stay signed in, keep your cart, remember preferences, and use the service safely.

Some are necessary for login and security. Others are optional. On our marketing website and customer storefront you can choose “Accept all” or “Necessary only”.

If you Accept all, we may use Google Analytics 4 to measure visits to public pages (with consent). Choosing Necessary only keeps the product working without those analytics cookies.

On shop pages we may keep cart items and draft address on your device so you can finish checkout. Saving your full address to your account after an order is optional.

Shop owners may use optional writing tools to draft product titles or descriptions. These are suggestions only.

• You must read and correct any suggested text before publishing
• You remain responsible for what appears on your shop page
• Do not paste passwords, card details, or other people’s private data into these tools
• We do not use your shop data to train public writing models unless we clearly ask and you agree

Fees for LocalShopWala plans (Free, Monthly, Yearly, or other published plans) are collected through Cashfree Payments, our authorised payment partner.

Online product orders on shop pages are currently cash on delivery or pay at shop. LocalShopWala does not collect online payment from customers for product orders.

• We do not store full card numbers, CVV, UPI PIN, or net-banking passwords
• We may keep payment reference numbers, amounts, GST invoices, and books-of-account records as required under Indian tax law
• Shop owners who collect cash or UPI from customers must follow tax and consumer laws themselves

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only when needed:

• Trusted service partners who help us run hosting, login codes, payments, messages, images, and maps — under confidentiality and security duties
• Between a shop and its customer, as needed to complete an order
• With staff the shop owner has authorised
• With courts, police, or regulators when the law requires it
• If our business is sold or reorganised, under proper confidentiality
• When you ask us to share information with another service

To run LocalShopWala we use carefully chosen partners, including our payment partner (Cashfree), phone login provider, image hosting, map/PIN lookup services, email providers, and — only if you accept optional analytics — Google Analytics 4 for public page measurement. Each partner has its own privacy rules for the work they do for us.

Links to other websites or shop pages outside our control are not covered by this Policy.

LocalShopWala is based in India. Your data is mainly stored and processed in India.

Some partners may process limited data outside India. Where that happens, we use contracts and safeguards required under Indian data protection law.

We use reasonable security measures expected under Indian IT law, including secure connections, controlled staff access, and monitoring for misuse.

• Login uses a one-time code sent to your registered mobile number
• Sensitive shop settings (such as UPI ID) are protected with extra care where configured
• Shop owners decide what staff can see and do
• No system is perfectly safe — please protect your phone and never share login codes
• If you suspect misuse of your account, write to us at once at support@localshopwala.com

LocalShopWala is for adults (18 years or older) and for businesses run by eligible persons. We do not knowingly collect children’s data. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will take steps to remove it.

Under Indian data protection law you may, subject to legal limits:

• Ask what personal information we hold about you
• Ask us to correct wrong or incomplete information
• Ask us to delete information we no longer need (see Account Deletion Policy)
• Raise a complaint with our Grievance Officer
• Withdraw consent for optional uses (this does not undo lawful past use)
• Nominate someone to act for you in limited cases allowed by law

We keep information only as long as needed for the purpose, or longer when the law requires it (for example tax and books of account).

• Active account data — while your account is open, plus a short period for support and disputes
• Bills, tax, and payment records — up to eight (8) years where Indian tax and company law require
• Security and usage logs — usually twelve (12) to twenty-four (24) months
• Backup copies — for a limited time after deletion from live systems
• Anonymous totals that cannot identify a person — may be kept for business analysis

You may request deletion from Settings (where available) or by emailing support@localshopwala.com.

After we verify your request:

• We close the account and remove personal details from live systems within a reasonable time
• Tax, invoice, and payment records may still be kept as required by law
• Copies a shop owner has already printed or saved offline are outside our control
• Deletion cannot be undone — please download any records you need first

Service messages (login codes, security alerts, billing, and order updates) are needed to run your account and cannot be turned off while the account is active.

Promotional messages are sent only with consent or as the law allows. You can stop them by unsubscribing, changing settings, or writing to us. Stopping marketing does not stop necessary service messages.

We may update this Policy when our practices or the law change. Important changes will be shown in the app or emailed where appropriate. The date at the top shows when the current version started.
